Monthly Meeting February 9, 2015

Internet Security

The public is invited to the February 9th 6:00PM meeting of the Mountain Computer User Group (MCUG). This program presentation at 7:00PM will cover Internet Security Risks and how to prevent them and how to protect your computer. The discussion will include viruses and Trojan malware, which typically causes loss or theft of data., and possible system harm. A computer may host a Trojan via malicious program that a user is duped into executing, often as an email attachment or by drive-by download.

This presentation at 7:00PM will be conducted by Michael Lovingood, who has a BA in Computer Science and has extensive knowledge of network security. Obviously, this is a hot topic in today's digital world and we need all the information we can get. Michael is also an EMS persion and gives CPR and first aid training.

Before the formal program, there will be a Question and Answer session for members and the public to ask their computer questions of the group for answers and opinions.

This meeting will start at 6:00PM in the Fellowship Hall of Sharp Memorial Methodist Church located in Young Harris. Sharp is South of the previous meeting place about a block on US76. Entry is from the South side parking area about midway down the building.

As usual we will have a brief meeting following the presentation for door prize drawings and any other necessary organization business. The raffle for January/February with the drawing at February's meeting will be a $50 WalMart Gift card.
